🎸 Align the Tide: Progressive Metal Powerhouse
Hailing from Mellieha, Malta, Align the Tide are a powerhouse in the progressive metal scene who have spent nearly a decade refining their crushing, innovative sound. Since forming in September 2015, the quintet have built an impressive resume that includes supporting legendary acts Mushroomhead on their 2018 American tour and Suicide Silence in 2024, alongside releases through Cleopatra Records including their debut album ‘Dead Religion’ (2019) and sophomore effort ‘Hollow’ (2022).
The band’s current lineup brings together diverse musical backgrounds and influences, with founding drummer Danny Dalli anchoring the rhythm section alongside guitarists Jonathan Camilleri (seven years with the band) and lyricist James Horton. This fusion of distinct perspectives has become Align the Tide‘s greatest strength, allowing them to craft a sound that feels both fresh and uniquely their own while maintaining the relentless energy that has seen them perform across America, Europe, and dominate Malta’s festival circuit.

🎵 Align the Tide – “JINN” Metal Experience
There’s something definitely catching approximately the way “JINN” opens — no slow build, no warnings, just a wall of sound that immediately draws you in. Align the Tide are really aware of their genre inside and out, blending hard rock grit with melodic metal attitudes. The voice is what stays with you, though. This is where the real range lies — one second a snoring depth, one in reality the melodic, almost inclined shipping of the following — and it’s that contrast that keeps the music from feeling monosyllabic
What I favored most was how deliberate it all sounded.
Nothing feels thrown in for gravity; the guitar, rhythm section, and vocal layers all seem to serve the track as much as they compete with it. It doesn’t just fade into the final stretch but builds up to a totally pleasing payoff. If melodic steel with some real emotional teeth is your element, then “JINN” is worth your time.
