🎵 Charlotte Shaw “Sometimes”: A Soulful Indie-Pop Song

Charlotte Shaw‘s “Sometimes” has this quiet charm — indie-pop with soul and a cinematic touch weaved in, but nothing about it feels forced. Her voice does most of the work, warm and slightly vulnerable, distinctly British in its poise. The production stays out of its way too: mildly swollen, a few chords here and there, plenty of room to breathe. That’s what gives the song a bigger, almost epic feel without ever being loud about it.

The underlying story is one most of us know — heartbreak, feeling a little lost, slowly finding your way. Shaw doesn’t oversell any of it. It plays out more like an interview than a big statement, which fits her delivery perfectly. As a second solo, it says a lot about where she’s gone as an artist: patient, a little more interested in subtlety than an easy hook. Listen to a song that gives you something new in the third or fourth.
