I’ve been sitting with themindwillnotletgo‘s “Burnout” for a few days now, and sure enough, each concentrate has grown more on me. The album bounces between alternative-rock, indie-rock, pop-punk, publish-punk in a way that doesn’t feel pressured or all over the field, it’s the vocals that just click that did get me, they have this rawness, like a singer doesn’t always see the best sound, just real. That’s unusual, and it works.

There’s an intimidating force that runs through the whole thing, the kind that makes you need to beat the game again before it’s even finished. Some tracks hit hard with distorted guitars, others pull back, allowing quieter moments to breathe, so nothing feels caught up in one setting.
