DownTown Mystic – “Maybe Love’s A Crime” Music Review

DownTown Mystic: Classic Rock Music with a Vintage Sound

DownTown Mystic is the alter ego of American Rocker, Robert Allen, whose passion for “old school” recording borders on obsession. Robert adds, “I grew up listening to all these great records and their sound and style stayed with me”. Robert is joined by a stellar cast of musicians, including drummer extraordinaire Steve Holley (Paul McCartney/Wings/Elton John/Ian Hunter) & Paul Page (Dion/Ian Hunter) on bass, as well as one of the great rhythm sections in the history of American Rock’nRoll–Max Weinberg & Garry Tallent of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.

Discover New Music with DownTown Mystic’s Retro Rock Sound

DownTown Mystic delivers heat and undead listening pleasure with “Maybe Love’s A Crime,” a music that blends acoustic rock, traditional rock, and singer-songwriter storytelling with real coronary heart from a primary vocal, guitar-pushing arrangement that feels organic and engaging, . Sporting a retro charm with the intent to please adult-oriented rock-Americana fans alike the lead vocals are expressive and relaxed, giving every track an honest, live high quality that draws you in closer.

What makes this music unique is its balance of melancholy and freshness. A touch of blues, rhythm and blues, and dad sensibility adds color and warmth, while the traditional sound continues the wholeness grounded within the spirit of rock n roll. The melody is easy to remember, and the scream is best for a quiet evening, extended power, or any moment when you need a track that feels honest. It’s a sophisticated, heartfelt piece that proves that good songwriting by no means goes out of style. If you’re into real guitar tunes with soul, this one deserves a spot on your playlist.
