Brit Scoops‘ first “American Cheese” won’t waste time speaking for itself — identify gets a single smile before the first string is even struck. Across ten tracks, she does the works between a twang of alt-ass, American hot temperatures, and dad-lit hooks, outside of ever sounding like she’s trying too hard to conform to a genre. Songs like “Front Porch at the 4th of July” and “Happy Hour” aren’t big, dramatic statements — they’re small moments, slow nights or memories that might not allow a pass at all, were something you come to hum later It feels like and more.
