Carlos Ucedda: A Passion for Lyric and Baroque Music Since 1994

With a foundation in lyric training dating back to 1994, this artist began their journey into the world of Baroque and sacred music thanks to the emotional and financial support of their workplace mentors. From the early days of private vocal instruction to formal studies at Juventudes Musicales in Granada, their commitment to the classical arts was unwavering. There, they trained under the guidance of the renowned Welsh Baroque specialist and mezzo-soprano Marian Brufdin, whose mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping the artist’s vocal identity.

Continuing their artistic development, the artist later studied at the Professional Music Centre (SCAEM) in Granada, once again under the tutelage of Marian Brufdin, and also joined a chamber choir to enrich their ensemble experience. Their growth was further enhanced through participation in prestigious masterclasses, including the XXIX Cursos Manuel de Falla in 1998 as a student listener under Helena Lazarska, and a course with esteemed countertenor Carlos Mena in Baeza (Jaén). In 1999, they earned a merit-grade certificate from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Though they stepped back from music for several years due to professional obligations, their return to the stage in 2021 marked a powerful resurgence.
