Song’s review

Dru Melodics “Skyfall” Brings Fresh UK Rap Energy

There’s something fresh, presumably as Dru Melodics carries itself on “Skyfall.” He’s not in a hurry to make an impact — the tour settles in early, just sits inside the pocket with no trouble, the bars land one after another, and without ever feeling forced you can tell this is a person who spent real time honing his shipping. The beat continues things rooted in that unmistakable UK rap sound, a touch gritty around the rims, which is easiest to lower its vocals more true through.

After a meditation or two what sticks with you isn’t always just technical skill, though it can be a lot — it’s how easy he makes that look wordplay is sharp without trying too hard to show, getting way in your head by the time the hook comes around. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on, and in fact, it’s worth revisiting more than once.
