New Music Discovery: Jacob Ifans Blends Folk & Country Magic
Hailing from rural West Wales and now settled in Cornwall, Jacob Ifans was brought up in a musical farming family which has lovingly influenced his work. His songs follow themes of human relationships, family stories and seasonal change in an often-nostalgic view of the past. “I wrote ‘Sun Don’t Shine’ in the middle of winter while I was living in a caravan; each season was particularly felt, each storm and cold spell were ingrained in my day to day,”
Jacob’s debut album ‘Eve’s Garden’ is a joyous mix of folk and country, recorded in Leonard Cohen’s spiritual home on the Greek island of Hydra at the Old Carpet Factory Studios. With influences from Johnny Cash, Rodriguez and Leonard Cohen, Jacob has embedded himself into the Cornish music scene alongside artists like Daisy Rickman, Tealeaf and Drolls.

🎧 NEW MUSIC SPOTLIGHT – Jacob Ifans’ Folk-Country Ballad 🎧
With his heartfelt track “Sun Don’t Shine”, Jacob Ifans portrayed a vivid sound landscape, immersed in the raw texture of the country and the soft heat of the folk. Her voice, clay and honest, bear a weight of longing, echoing the emotional depth of the story that defines the story. Acousic guitar makes an intimate background, with an tender, grace, where every note feels stitched by hand with care. A soft hormonica through the chorus connects an indifferent lilt that combines images of empty roads, golden areas, and loses pain of love.
The production of the track is beautifully restrained, allowing the lyrical honesty and melodious attraction of Jacob Ifans to take the center stage. With poetic lines and emotional phrases, he captures the calm pain and flexibility of hope. “Sun Don’t Shine” is not just a song – it is a moving Gathagit that performs longer sex after the previous cord’s fade.
