🎵 motko: New Music with a Cinematic Alternative Rock Sound
motko is the solo project of Shorty, a musician who spent years performing with bands including Millhouse, Symbiosis, and IONS before exploring music entirely on his own. The result is home, a nine-track alternative rock album that moves slowly and intentionally, blending introspective songwriting with layered, cinematic soundscapes.
Described as “movies for your ears,” home is a record about leaving far enough to finally know how to stay. Alongside the album, motko has also created a companion zine, Finding Your Way Back Home, which expands on the world, ideas, and themes behind the record and offers another way into the story surrounding home.

🎸 motko’s Home: A Cinematic Alternative Rock Experience
motko‘s “Home” arrives like a long-awaited breath of fresh air, an alternative rock record built on mouth-melting guitar types that are rewarded for turning up the volume all the way up The noise of “the birds always told us” can breathe something almost soft The male vocals carry real weight throughout, grounding even the most detailed, epic poems in real emotion rather than spectacle for their own sake.
What makes “home” stand out is its refusal to choose between gravity and heart. “Liberation” and “You Better Run” hit with saucy, unapologetic swagger, while “Love” and “Old” pull the record back to something quieter and more reflective. With closing notes, motko has created a world that feels inhabited rather than performed — a record that earns its title. It’s a truly exciting alternative rock debut and worthy of your full attention from start to finish.
