🎸 PROJECT: Beyond’s Alternative Rock Music Experience
Honestly, this song doesn’t sit long enough to be boxed into one style anyway, and I love that about it. One minute it leans into that traditional alt-rock/hard-rock crunch, the next it softens into something more art-rock and conscientious. There is also some genuinely heavy metallic grit, yet it never grips. The emo and indie rock influence maintains the pull of things back to something greater personal, more felt. And the voice really conveys the whole thing. They believe in never sounding constrained, that’s harder to pull than humans guess.
What I respect most is how snug and slightly paradoxical the music is. It’s heavy but weak nonetheless. Clean production yet with hard edges that feel intentional, no longer unintentional. The rock pop side maintains clean to give primary focus, while the art rock moments provide you with inspiration to come back and seize the stuff you neglected. The “end” doesn’t feel like the end at all after all. It feels like PROJECT: Beyond just getting started.
