There’s something disarming about Pieces I Left Behind — it doesn’t try to inspire you. It just tells you the truth. Rion Zion builds each music around a simple acoustic core, then what we will go with reggae grooves, indie textures, and a warm neo-soul R&B pulse flowing around it. His voice becomes the whole thing: unhurried, slightly held in the right places, like he speakme to 1 person instead of appearing for the room. “Voicemail” and “I Thought You Loved Me” hit particularly hard — songs that catch you off guard on a second listen.

The album is short, only 9 tracks and 26 min, yet nothing feels rushed or filler.
