Discover Rosetta West‘s New Music: A Darker, Heavier Sound 🎸🎶
Rosetta West is a blues rock band from Illinois. Their music frequently includes elements of psychedelia and world folk music, and their lyrical themes often venture into mysticism and spirituality. Founder and songwriter Joseph Demagore handles vocals, guitars, and keyboards. Jason X plays bass and keyboards, and was co-producer and sound engineer for the new Night’s Cross album, which was recorded at a home studio in rural Illinois. Nathan Q. Scratch plays drums and percussion. “Night’s Cross” is the follow-up to last year’s well-received “Labyrinth” album, and continues in similar musical veins.
However, the contemplation of death is a common theme that runs through many of the “Night’s Cross” songs, and the music is a bit darker and harder as well. The mood is not morbid though – it is just heavier whereas “Labyrinth” had a light feel at times. With the exception of a one-off release with Alive Records, Rosetta West has maintained a long, unconventional and fiercely independent underground career.
