Sipul – In The Still: Raw Alternative Rock Music Review
The Rochester trio make their full-term debut with Sipul in the Still, and it’s a record that immediately proves worth the wait. The band, based on alternative rock and grunge — James “Spaz” Spaziani on vocals and guitar, Al Bellanca on bass and Doug Folen on drums — layers in flashes of submit punk, shoegaze and noise rock to create something that feels immature and richly textured guitars tight hit, the rhythm section remains beaten, and Spaziani’s voice provides real weight from the tune from the very first.
What makes In The Still stand out is its authenticity. This is an album born out of perfect conflict and that emotional depth comes through in every information without ever tipping over into melodrama. It’s loud when it wants to be and tender when it counts, balancing abrasive power with genuine vulnerability. For fans of occasion rock, grunge, and put up-hardcore looking for something with substance behind the sound, this album delivers. Highly recommended.
