Spinors – “You Loved the Cage”: Dark Alternative Rock
I’ll be honest, I pressed play on “You Loved the Cage” expecting a respectable heavy tune and ended up hitting repeat 3 instances. The Spinors are a British band, and you could pay attention to it within the temper: grungy and fuzzy, with a stoner-rock slouch underneath and a gothic relaxed jogging. The guitars are thick and a touch dirty in the best way possible, and throughout the track there’s that past fixed-night time, light-setting down force that makes you need to sit back anyway and let it wash over you.
What definitely got me was the voice. The male vocals sound real, one piece worn, one piece moody, yet by no means bloodless. He makes every word sound methodical, and that honesty makes the darkness feel welcome instead of heavy. It’s the kind of song that offers something new every time you play it. If you grew up on Opportunity Rock, otherwise you just skip track with personality, this one’s for you. Turn it up and allow the Spinors cage to open.
