🎵 TaQsem & Candy JAMZ Create a Unique New Music Journey
TaQsem & Candy JAMZ are forging a distinctive path in the music scene from their unlikely home base above a candy kitchen in Tuscola, IL. The project began when TaQsem (lead vocals, congas) and Seth (lead guitar), who became friends at Millikin University in 2014, joined forces with Paul (bass), whom Seth met at Eastern Illinois University in 2022. Together with Nick on keys and Justin on drums, the five-piece collective brings together a wide range of musical influences and backgrounds.
Their unique sound is shaped by TaQsem’s Jamaican heritage and reggae foundations, Seth and Paul’s jam band and jazz experiences, Nick’s country, classic rock, and blues influences from professional performances including time in Nashville, and Justin’s gospel roots combined with more than a decade of versatile performance experience. This rich blend of cultures and styles has created a powerful musical identity that continues to captivate audiences, including their recent performance at the Local Vibes Live festival at Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater in Decatur, IL.
