VelumVelvet is the artistic world of Donna James, a nurse and poet from Brigg, England, who transforms deeply personal experiences into evocative musical storytelling. Instead, she’s building an ambitious conceptual project called the House of Emotional Rooms, where each release represents a different emotional space. Her creative process is intimate and instinctive, writing from what she calls “word soups” and recording vocals at home where authenticity trumps technical perfection. For VelumVelvet, the emotion behind the music matters more than polish, and every artistic decision—from lyrics to artwork—serves the story she’s telling.
