Some songs hit because they are loud, while others steer clear of the mark because they feel authentic. Zach Adams‘ “Dead Man Walking” manages to do both. From the hole riff, the track incorporates a tight, unfiltered power that immediately draws you in. The guitars are thick and gritty on the outside, drowning out the entirety of the other, and the rhythm phase shifts the melody with real purpose. Adams delivers his vocals with conviction in no way, sounding pressured or overly polished, which makes every line believable. There’s a sense of hysteria jogging through the music that fits its title perfectly, giving the performance real emotional weight.
