Cocoared blends electronic and R&B/soul in “RHYTHM IN BLUE”
Cocoared One of our group members is Gene Roberson, a songwriter, and performer who was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, but now resides in New Castle, Pennsylvania. For the love of hip-hop, he used to break dance and rap all through high school.
He co-founded a gospel acapella group while a college student and sang baritone and bass. His love for singing and crafting rap lyrics intensified during this time, and he later blended them into R&B tracks. “RHYTHM IN BLUE,” the newest song by Cocoared, is an alluring fusion of Electronic and R&B/Soul that captivates from beginning to end.
During this time, he developed a passion for singing and writing rap lyrics, which he later integrated into R&B songs. During that time, he collaborated with local musicians like Jogoldie and focused on songwriting, contributing seven songs to her album. While on an overseas tour in Italy, Gene shifted his focus to vocals and producing, filling books of tunes.
The right combination with guitarist Phigroa should enable Luck to develop and perfect the desired style.
Their debut EP, “G Train,” was produced as a fusion of cool Lofi and soulful blues.
His sound combines soul blues and techno music, with an inclusive message for all, regardless of race or gender. He draws inspiration from Sam Cooke, Teddy Pendergrass, David Ruffin, Bob Marley, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, and more. He presently finds inspiration in the music of Sade, Seal, Jamiroquai, Adele, and Jaheim off the head.
