50mething: Independent Music with a Unique Vision

Hailing from Ealing, England, 50mething is a fiercely independent artist who crafts every element of their sound within the intimate confines of a home studio. Working in complete isolation, this solo creator draws inspiration from the legendary musicianship of Prince and Stevie Wonder, channeling their innovative spirit into a unique sonic vision.

With a DIY approach that sees them handling all aspects of production before outsourcing final mixing and mastering online, 50mething represents the modern artist who refuses to compromise their creative control. Their work reflects a dedication to authenticity and a commitment to speaking truth through music, qualities that shine through in every carefully constructed track.

50mething – “Make Us Pay for It”: Indie Pop Review

“Make us pay for it.” by means of 50mething stuck me out of the shield inside the nice way. I hit the game on a quiet afternoon and within a few seconds without my head turning into a nod I made the decision. It’s got that alternative indie and R&B feel, with pop hooks and a cool groove underneath that maintains all the shifting. The bass is playful, the drums are loosely alive, and the male vocals take a seat right at the top, accessible but slightly immature, which is what makes them believable.

I’ve replayed it more times than I’d like to admit. The chorus doesn’t try too hard. It just lives in your head and stays there. Some songs beg your interest, yet this one earns it by using a sound like humans love to make it. It could have been in the shape of an overdue overnight trip in addition to a lazy Sunday morning. If you want your pop a touch offbeat and your R&B a little unfastened, give this a spin. I’ll keep an eye on any 50mething drops next.
