🎸 Noah James Mass: “I Am the One” Music Review
Noah James Mass opens his self-titled debut with a song that wastes no time announcing exactly who he is — a driving, alive slice of alternative rock that pulls you in from the first bar. Mass wrote and produced the track entirely on his own, later bringing in Rick Carson to mix and master it, and that hands-on approach shows in how tightly everything holds together. Electric piano, raw guitar, and sharp, purposeful drumming build a sound that feels layered without ever losing its rock backbone.
What really lands is how personal the vocals feel even as the instrumentation swells around them — Mass keeps things intimate without sacrificing any of the song’s energy, and that balance is where its charm lives. Knowing he handled everything himself, from the initial guitar and piano tracking through the strings, organ, and synth work, makes the finished product even more impressive; it sounds cinematic and genuinely soulful. As an opening statement, “I Am the One” sets an exciting tone for the album to follow.
