RISE continues to do simple things on “Hard To Leave You,” and that’s why it works. The melodies sit easily with an 80s-tinged rock sound, guitars, and synths, while the male vocals convey a warmth that feels lived-in instead of polished for the radio. It’s the kind of tune that you anticipate paying attention to gambling within the backdrop of an extended force, down the windows of the house, not overthinking anything.
