Suzy Pine: Sophisticated Rotterdam Music 🎵
Rotterdam-based artist Suzy Pine is the musical project born from a creative reunion between Suzanne, a professional singer and music teacher with over 20 years of experience, and Pepijn, a skilled guitar player, composer, and sound designer. After years of writing songs at home that piled up on her piano, Suzanne finally found the courage to bring them to life, reconnecting with her old study friend in his Rotterdam studio.
Together, they embarked on an independent journey of sonic experimentation, initially releasing singles “Cool Inside” and “Astray” under the name Lena & van Dorst before rebranding to Suzy Pine—a name that better reflects their evolving sound. Drawing inspiration from Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sting, and Pink Floyd, while incorporating elements from Suzanne’s time as a backing vocalist in brasilectro band Electro Côco, Suzy Pine crafts a warm, sophisticated sound that blends harmonized melodies, clear basslines, and Latin percussion with synth patterns.

Suzy Pine’s “Whispered Dreams” Blends Warmth and Atmosphere
There’s something really disarming about “Whispered Dreams.” Suzy Pine keeps the whole thing soft and stripped-back at its core, but layers in these electronic textures that catch you off guard in a good way. Her voice doesn’t try to fill the room — it just kind of settles in close, like she’s singing right next to you instead of at you. You can hear the Latin alternative and art pop influences sneaking in too, small details that give the song more depth the more times you play it.
It’s a love song at heart, but it’s wrapped in this warm, 80’s-leaning haze — synths humming underneath, nothing rushed, nothing forced. Honestly, it’s the kind of track you want on when you’re winding down for the night, headphones on, lights low. Suzy Pine has a real knack for mixing that experimental, electronic edge with lyrics that still feel honest and personal. “Whispered Dreams” comes across as one of the more atmospheric, genuinely felt songs in her catalog so far — worth the listen.
