Lee Wright and the Wrong ‘Uns – “Feather Boa Thrower” Review
I’ll be frank, the title was given to me first. “Feather Boa Thrower” sounds like a story waiting to happen, and Lee Wright and the Wrong ‘Uns turn it into a perfect little indie rock deal. It’s a melodic pop-rock, guitar-driven song with a whole lot of heart that doesn’t try too hard and in one way or another wins you over besides. Lee’s voice is the best of Dear Dwell, smooth and warm, and makes the entire musical experience feel like it’s sung just for you.
It emerges as a song that I repeat while running and catch myself humming later. The refrain is lovingly simple, the band sounds relaxed and tight, and the mood is definitely desirable corporate. Nothing flashy, just music performed with real emotion. If you’re craving some authentic, hook-packed indie-rock that makes the day mean lighter, it’s really worth a couple minutes of some time give it a spin, then maybe a 2nd. You’ll probably see why I did it
