MäRK – Dark Electronica Po etica and Cinematic Artrock Music
The Swedish/Danish artrock duo MäRK, inhabits a dark, shimmering universe. MäRK’s sound is hard to pin down to any one genre, and the duo often use their own label: electronica poetica. A cocktail with hints of electronica and industrial, but also krautrock and trip-hop.
Woven into the soundscape are layers of electronically manipulated instruments and field recordings that fuse with the rest of the music, creating a cinematic atmosphere: a battered piano, church organ, accordion, guitar, toy piano, the sound of swallows, a super-8-projector and coins rattling in a cathedral in Lisbon.

MäRK – The Eleventh Hour: Dark Alternative Rock Music
I anticipated one thing on MäRK’s The Eleventh Hour and pressed play and got about ten. The album slips into alternative rock, putting up punk and dark waves without ever kicking its feet, then throws in industrial edges, ride-hop grooves and shiny psychedelic synths just when you imagine it thinking some songs hit with the raw punch of hardcore, others wander into experimental electronic territory, but all It feels like the irresistible belongs to that same restless, curious mind.
What I love most is how warm it feels underneath all that darkness. This is where the shadows are in no way bloodless or heavy for him. They’re rich, moody and exquisite, wrapped in production that sounds polished and cinematic but has real emotion. Indie rock enthusiasts will discover hooks to hum, and anyone who enjoys artwork rock or leftfield sounds should have plenty to discover. It’s the look of an album that starts with one piece of music and ends an hour later. Give it a spin and let it surprise you.
